Carl Zeiss: M2Discovery
A unique FL Stereo Microscope with extended magnification range
The M2 Attachment for the Stereo Discovery.V12 combines two microscope systems into one platform: A Macro, Stereo for low magnification sorting and a Micro Scope, for high magnification verification and imaging!
M2Discovery – the best of both worlds
1. Stereo Mode(Macro possible)
• unparalleled three dimensional imaging with extremely deep depth of field
• several transmitted light techniques possible as well as Fluorescence
2. High resolution Micro Mode
• magnifications up to 800x
• high resolution due to highest numerical aperture in zoom and objectives
M2Discovery at a glance:
* Unique nosepiece design, allowing for parfocal and parcentric Stereo and Micro objectives
* Transmitted and reflected light as well as Fluorescent techniques, all in one microscope
* Macro functionality allows for Stereo and Micro Imaging
* Long working distance 10x objective clears a standard 35mm petri dish
Optional Features include:
* Manual and Motorized focus
* Various AxioCams with Axiovision software for Multichannel, Z-Stack and Timelapse experiments
* Multiple Documentation options
* Manual and Motorized stage choices
* Innovative joystick control for zoom and focus
Applications
One of the major application for the M2Discovery resides in a wide cross section of developmental biology. Its stereo mode provides the perfect tool for picking and sorting nematodes, while a quick switch to the higher magnification mode allows one to visualize high resolution images of internal features in order to verify fluorescent tagged structures. This represents a significant cost and time saving for labs, by allowing both steps to be completed on one platform. Other applications include zebra fish and drosophila research, multi channel fluorescence in cell and tissue biology, and macro whole animal physiology.
